Running life's trail: Embracing adventure and facing obstacles.
Find joy, overcome challenges, and take life one step at a time.
Does your life seem like a sprint or marathon sometimes?
I was thinking about the fast pace at which we run through our weeks, months, years, life. Are we enjoying it? Do we have fun on the way? When we get to the end of life, what will we say we did with our life? Did we exist? Did we sit on the sideline of our own life or did we engage, take control, and make a difference?
What's missing in your life?
Life may sometimes feel like a waiting room, but what do we do while we wait? Do we choose to add adventure to our life, and if so, what kind of adventure? What would this look like for you and what do you need to experience this adventurous life? How will it add value, for you and others, and will this be in alignment with your values?
Do you need to walk, run, reset or rest?
As I hiked this week, I came to a section on the trail which is meant for hiking as well as trail running, and I found myself wondering how one would run this section? In my curiosity, I asked a friend, and she humorously said: “Very carefully!”
Life can be compared with a trail run sometimes. Not only do we get to run through life, but we are hit with obstacles now and again, not to harm us, but to help build and shape our character and to add skill. Yes, sometimes it feels like the obstacles keep on coming (as in my photo above), but these obstacles do eventually pass.
Go slow to go far.
At other times, we are also forced to go slower, and sometimes we even need to stop to reflect, recalculate, re-strategize, and recover. It doesn't mean we need to let go of our values, but maybe we only need to reprioritize what is already important to us.
Put things in perspective.
Sometimes all we need is a different perspective. Other people's perspectives unlock the magic of different viewpoints so we may become aware of blind spots we need so we may walk or run further and become stronger in the process.
Sometimes all we need is to consider a different perspective.
